I won't shave either. I'm not 12 and I don't want to "feel" that way either. That said, I've trimmed and wife says she loves it. I didn't want to walk into Dr. C's, have them lift the surgical gown and "Welcome To The Jungle" by Guns & Roses starts playing instead of the techno most patients mention.

I personally like the trimmed look best, but the reason why I shaved completely was so that it would make it easier to distinguish markings on my skin (for observation post-procedure) rather than having to comb through stubble. Not that trimming prevents this or anything. Either way works.
