TOPIC: Update on my surgical removal

Hey man hang in there, give it time to heal. Its not over yet.

I unwrapped to take a shower and noticed a couple of spots of what looked like pus. And then I see this white line that’s kind of soft, but I understand it might be soft because of the zero form that is under the bandage to keep it moist. I sent it to the doctor to look at so I’ll wait to hear what he has to say.

Only 3 weeks out right? I think it is healing nicely. That tissue looks health that is granulating in. The swelling may take 6 mos to a year to subside. Unfortunately the body heals slowly. Take Vit d, Vit c, and collagen. Once the tissue is healed, stretch daily and massage with vit e oil. Only after tissue is fully healed. U r coming along.

Unfortunately, no. The surgery was on January 10. So almost 2 months.
I’ve had some consultations and I’m in a better headspace knowing there are options. That was the whole goal is to give me enough. Hope to be able to be patient while it heals. They won’t do anything until it’s done healing. I feel better prepared now toWait.

The granulation is looking better. It’s closing up, but I’m not seeing a lot of growth to fill in the missing flesh. And there are some bubbles of residual filler at the base that are bad so they’re gonna have to be dealt with at some point.

The granulation area has healed over. It’s still very miss shape and disfigured. I’m still really upset and depressed about it. The doctor still thinks the low lying areas that look like chunks missing will fill in. I’ve had several consults and no one agrees with him. I was hoping to get with Dr. Morey and Dallas since he’s closer, but he’s not in my network so I can’t afford paying 50% of everything

One doctor said after the skin graft that it will be only as thick as the smallest area so that’s about 4 inches around. Considering I was almost 5 inches around before the filler, that’s a big decrease in my opinion. And it sounds like you can’t do filler with a full thickness, skin graft.

Swelling can take 6 mos to a year. It will look better. Stretch, massage.

While it’s clear that it’s disfigured, I’m glad that the skin and healing is looking good. I’m not gonna lie, those initial pictures you shared of it days after Removal were tough to picture. The positive is that you removed the silicone, never forget that. Continue on with the healing process and I look forward to what happens next.

You might want to seek the opinions of a penile reconstruction specialist, aka sex change doctors for another opinion. Those guys specialize in making something out of nothing. A normal won't have that kind of experience.

Dr. Morey in Dallas no longer does the surgery either and he’s seems to be one of the leading people to do reconstruction. So he referred me to a doctor.hudak in Fort Worth unfortunately they are out of network

If you can swing paying out of pocket for the consult, it might be worth it to get another opinion from the FW doctor.

Yes, I am gonna do that because I want to hear what he has to say and see if it lines up with what the other three have said. One of the three is not going to operate onl me because he’s the one who messed this up. But he has an opinion that lines up with One of the other people. One is suggesting a split thickness graft. I guess that’s the thinnest one and the other one is suggesting a full thickness.

Dr. Carney is a world-renowned reconstructive Urologist who often repairs these kinds of cases, so I'm glad you were able to at least get his opinion. So sorry to hear the doc he recommended in TX didn't work out. I hope you're able to find a satisfactory resolution to all this.

Degloving is the best way to getting as much of the foreign matter out as possible. However!! You will run the risk of getting skin Necrosis again especially if the blood supply was compromised in your first episode.

Actually, just a month ago I went for a degloving to remove a whole bunch of PMMA (probably like 100cc) and the doc (Dr Ivan Aguilera in MX) warned me that Necrosis can happen when removing PMMA. He also recommended FFT to reduce the chances of that happening and I did go for it. Overall the op was very successful in the Removal, but I do have a small are about the size of a pinkie nail that ulcerated and is taking a while to heal, but I've started using collogen gel/patches over it and it seems to be healing slowly.
