contact the doctor's office. I slightly remember a burning feeling in the beginning stages, but not intense pain.
Thanks for the support guys. Talked to dr. M just now. She said its probably nerves and she can fix it with something injected there. Forgot what she said it was.

I was in constant communication with the Doctor, so if you don't mind take your (Inadvertent) condescension elsewhere. NOT that your message is not good advice just doesn't belong.

Dr. Oates said "guys" so he was addressing both you and the community at large. Also, from your initial post it appeared you hadn't consulted your physician yet.

This wasn't condescension, it was plainly good advice. It absolutely does belong and was well within the context of this posting (i.e. you seeking out advice from strangers on the internet regarding a potential complication).

I expect a bit more courtesy, consideration, and decorum with our community's medical professionals. They take a part of their working day to chime in at no cost to you, the reader.

Let's resume the topic please, thanks.

Guys, after any procedure if you have any problems always contact the doctor that did it (first). This forum is a great resource but secondary to your physician. If your doctor is not interested in helping definitely post that here. And if things don't add up then ask here. Ant reasonable doctor will want to know if you have issues, concerns, problems and will want to help.

No need to defend myself here my decorum was on point.

Burning pain while manipulating PMMA implant.

7 years 4 months ago #1307951484
I had three PMMA done about 6 weeks ago (round 1) and I have been experiencing sharp burning like pain when the implant is moved a bit. I can feel implant due to a ring like ridge along the base and a hardened spot along the side of the shaft and the pain comes when this is moved a little. The pain only lasts as long as I manipulate the implant and maybe a couple seconds more.

Is this a serious concern?
Will this go away with time?
What is causing this pain?

How intense would you describe the pain?

I do recall tenderness and very mild sharp pains when manipulating the shaft fresh off a procedure, and it ultimately subsided with time. I've never experienced intense pain post-op.

Dr. C ..and the pain is semi intense. It's about a 7 out of 10. It only happens when the implant is moved. It's not tenderness.
