I actually had a couple of questions regarding this so would prefer to answer it in public. I had the same concerns although my my FFT job was fairly even as per pictures. Basically they will fill out the gaps but they will also poke around in the fat and break it up to mix it. Hoddle who is a mod here and who you also spoke to told me (and you) that given another chance he would not have bothered trying to remove it first but gone straight in for the PMMA. I sent my pictures of to Wade first for his opinion so my advice to you or anyone else would be to take a pic and send it off for them to look at.
