Hi Dr Oates,

You've been a trememdous addition to the board and I'm impressed by your honest, transparent approach and focus on safety.

I myself had some lumps and had steroid injections as you suggest here. I had 2 rounds of Kenalog into PMMA Nodule lumps.

Although the lumps reduced in size, I'm left with a large patch of discoloration. It's a kind of brown colour and the skin seems very thin with a slightly different feel.

Do you have any advice for anything I can do, other than just waiting and hoping it improves?

Thanks in advance for any help and also for your general contribution to this forum.

Yeah I've learned only Kenalog 40 works. I don't know if 5fu does anything really, but it causes bad headaches. Kenalog 10 is a complete waste.

It hasn't reduced the hard shells of the nodules, though it has shrunk them slightly - like you said maybe 10% or a little more.

See, that's the sort of thing I am concerned about with injections. I just don't want to make it worse.

I kept thinking this thing would go away on its own but it never did and now it bothers me more than it used to. I had the surgery done in Houston, TX so long ago that I don't have the surgeon's name any more. I would greatly appreciate any assistance that anyone here could provide. Are there any doctors out there who can remove a lump of fat?

I have injected transferred fat in the face many times just using steroid (Triamcinolone). Use it all the time in hypertrophic/keloid scars. Usually it takes a few injections to totally reduce. Injected fat seem much more susceptible than normal fat. MUCH less issues than Lipodissolve. Kybella is expensive for what you need - and i would be surprised if anyone doing Kybella would be thrilled with the idea of using it off-label like this so early in its release.

The only real issue is that you might get some broken capillaries. A family doctor could do it - if they have done steroid injections before (usually older or country doctors) or a cosmetic doctor.

Good luck.

Interesting.. I do see that the FDA has not approved it. Are there any doctors in Texas who will inject this into the penis?

Cav - some guys would pay to have a lump like that (maybe their partners would like it).

From the image I would still try to inject steroid - being careful to get it directly into the lump itself.

I had a fat transfer back in 1999. Shortly thereafter, most of the fat didn't take and the skin popped and a bunch of fat came oozing out. Yeah, lots of fun. This spot in the center of the shaft remained though. But it gradually hardended and died, leaving a permanent lump. This was so long ago that I don't recall the name of the surgeon. He was located in Houston, TX though.

Thanks but no thanks on the PMMA. I don't want anything unnatural inside me at all and I never want to go through anything like I went through when I did the fat injection years ago. I'm perfectly content with going all natural from now on.

Herb Singh is in Texas. If not there is Gary Alter in LA.

Have you considered lipodissolve?

I think any unwanted side effects gained from an injection carnt possible be as bad as the possible side effects from surgical Removal.

Thanks for the recommendations on Dr. Singh. I called them and he can actually see me. His office personel is real nice and helpful too. I might go see him and see what he can do. Consultation costs $250 and I have to drive from dallas to austin. Might be worth it though if the DMSO doesn't work.
