i thinking of getting PMMA and was doing research and found that story and thought it would be a good story to share

Has anyone been to Dr Nakra in Austin?

I'm trying to find a good PMMA doctor in my area here in Austin and wondering if this is a good guy to goto?

Dr Camacho gave me a couple of stories of patients that went bad, but they were not in the penis. one story was a women who had it in her buttocks and the PMMA migrated to her back. He also mentioned about how hard it is to try to remove. That was about it, but he told me he doesnt like PMMA twice, one time on the phone and the other time during my surgery. I still understand that PMMA is the best option for surgical penile Girth, but like I said, I have been through so much already, and the last thing I want is to deal with lumps and irregularities. I want to have Girth gains, but I am now willing to jump at the risk at this time. I am observing for now and see the results after a few years making sure that lumps dont appear after that time.

This is a tough one. I've had serious on-going problems with PMMA (most of the issues seem to be from the Precise not so much the original Artecoll) but tough to know for sure. I had original Artecoll 15 years ago and Precise approx 5 years ago so I tend to think the problem is Precise. I've never had the Brazilian PMMA so I can't answer that but I do feel Dr Casavantes is a conscientious doctor and is adjusting as necessary based on negative consequences from the product. He believes the original lumps under my eyes occurred because the product was implanted too superficially but I think that's only partly correct since it was 3 years later when I started to have all the issues. I have nodules in every area that the product was ever placed and where the skin is thin, they are very visible. I think that if you stay away from any areas with thin skin (anywhere around the eyes, temple, lips, etc) and make sure the product is implanted deeply that even if you end up with nodules the chances are they would not be visible. I have tons of nodules that aren't that visible. But time will tell how much worse they will get.
On the upside of PMMA, I want to mention that my sister and mother were both treated along with me and neither of them have experienced any problems so hard to predict the long term outcome.
I think it's best to plan for the possibility of nodules and just make sure the product is deep enough that if a problem occurs it's not visible.
No one seems to know yet what will happen to the nodules and auto-immune response in the long-run. I'm hoping this will burnout and not be a lifelong problem.

Thank you, Skatezy. I'm happy to share any new info I get. My latest plan is to try and get a doctor to ask Auxilium Pharmaceuticals for samples of Xiaflex (collagenase clostridium histolyticum) which is currently used to treat Dupuytren's contracture and off label for Peyronie's disease. The injections are expensive and supposedly you need up to 3 (last quote was $3,000 per injection) so until it's confirmed to be effective for PMMA granulomas, I hope to convince a doctor experienced with PMMA complications to consider starting a clinical trial of sorts. If I'm able to convince a doctor to try this treatment, I'll post results. wwills

@rustyboar--Just for clarification, this isn't your story, correct? I believe it's a few years old as I've seen it on another website.
@lastime--Did Dr. Camacho say specifically why he doesn't recommend PMMA?

Hi, I'm the person that wrote of my experience with PMMA on Real Self and Make Me Heal that RustyBoar has posted in this thread. My issue with PMMA has not resolved; it's an on-going battle. I'm continuing with 5FU/steroid injections which keep the granulomas under control for the most part. I've been getting regular injections for several years and so far the 5FU/steroid injections have been the best treatment for me. The injections have small side effects of their own. I now have some white patches on my face that look like vitiligo but I'm told this is a side effect of the steroid and should resolve over time. I still have new nodules popping up; the latest have occurred in the lips. I've been to many doctors and constantly search for new information. I believe I've seen or spoken with most of the Doctors experienced with PMMA (US, Canada and Mexico) including the inventor of Artecoll and have been following the prescribed treatment plan that has the lowest risk of side effects (5FU/steroid combo), The course of treatment recommended for complete resolution is 40g steroid but this can cause Atrophy (I experienced this side effect with high dose steroid) so I'm treating with lower dose to minimize the side effects. If my granulomas and nodules were in a less conspicuous area (not my face), I'd aggressively go after them with 40g steroid but Atrophy is not an acceptable side effect for my face. I have often wondered if the frequent injections act as a catalyst for an inflammatory/immune response and that's why I often get new nodules but I can't go for any length of time without the injections or the granulomas grow large and become visible. On the upside, the doctor I spoke with that had the most experience and longest history with PMMA complications, said the inflammatory response will stop after 5 years. If this turns out to be true, I will be a very happy camper. In reference to Dr Daniel Cassuto in Italy and melting PMMA, I decided not to pursue treatment with him because it was confirmed by a very reliable and educated source that PMMA cannot be melted at a temperature that wouldn't burn the skin so trying to melt the PMMA was not an option. Thanks for contributing to the forum and I am sorry about your poor experiences. It is definitely good to know, and should serve as one other data point for individuals who are contemplating this procedure.
I had a few questions to ask you:
1. Do you think that if the lumps were in the penis, they would cause significant problems, either physically or visually? I am just wondering if the lumps would preclude someone from having sexual activity, or if theoretically someone could live with having the lumps in the penis and accepting them as a side effect for increased Girth.
2. You said you would get PMMA done again, but not in the face. Why is that, given what has happened? Do you believe it is because the PMMA was injected superficially that you had the problems?

@rustyboar Your experience with bioplasty is welcomed and extremely insightful. It reminds us all the risks with anything elective, and further stresses the need to weigh out pros & cons when choosing to undergo any procedure. Thanks for the doctor's name in Beverly Hills, it will be one more resource to contact in the event someone experiences undesirable issues. Lastly, can you clarify Ripple's questions please? Thanks. @lastime It has been determined time & time again that 2nd Rounds are required to resolve any (usually minor) lumps or irregularities that are nearly inevitable in most patients. Outside of that, I don't know of any reported complications that haven't already been resolved with either time and/or treatment. This is at least true for the short & current term. What are Dr. Camacho's main concerns regarding the product?

Seems like the way to go for now. Sigh, guess I'll be grinding out the Clamping for at least a few more years.

Wow...thanks for the insight and honesty. I am still a skeptic of PMMA as we all are. I am still upset to here that some of our members experience lumps and irregularities quite often usually after the first round. Being through alot of penile surgeries in my life, I am exhausted at always going for the latest thing for penis enlargement only to be left disappointed and deformed. Dr Camacho does not recommend PMMA which leaves me even more skeptical.
