Manitou, as jogift points out, the concern here isn't necessarily cancer, it's swelling. As already pointed out, post-sex systemic swelling of the penis seems to be a common result of having PMMA in the penis. Swelling comes with its own set of issues. Until we have a better understanding of the swelling issues, there are two that currently disqualify PMMA as a viable option for me:
1. Recovery interfering with multiple sessions
2. Long-term health impact

You are right to be skeptical of procedures and outcomes. In fact, it is welcomed. Skepticism can bring about some of the best discussions and exploration.
However, I take deference when you question the objectivity and transparency of this forum.
I personally have received PMMA and do not experience swelling. And I answered with my personal experience regarding rigidity/firmness of erections in other threads. Also, much of what happens with any filler is dependent on the individual's biological response.
So, in many cases there is not going to be a clear answer. For example, in my round 2 I experienced zero growth. There is no answer why. Some guys get nodules and poor aesthetics, while others sail through with no issues.

The human immune system is "always" fighting something, of course. PMMA has been used in the human facial tissue (mostly for AIDS victims if I recall correctly) for over ten years, and as far as I have read there are not issues with any cancer or immune system issues with PMMA. I do understand that we still do not have accurate long term data about PMMA in the face and more recently in the penis, but if you look at the "overall" sense of the data we have, so far, it looks positive.
I hope it stays positive for all the PMMA patients who have made the commitment to use it...Good luck t us all

9 years 4 months ago #1307143654Just wondering if anyone knows where exactly the pmma attaches to or should i say the tissue that encapsulates the pmma? Does ot attach to the corporas cavernosum or the actual penile skin maybe that might have to do with why swelling occurs after sex idk just saying
"The PMMA suspension injected overlying the Buck fascialeaves the super?cial Dartos fascia untouched, and the alveolargliding space is preserved, maintaining the gliding of the skinover the implant or of the implant over the Buck fascia."

I conjecture that during sex, the dermis moves (however slightly) over the "cartilage" as mike81 puts it and the irritation from this results in inflammation (swelling). The phenomenon is affected by the fluidity or slipperiness of the vagina, the grip (tightness) and the duration of the act.
PE aside, continually being inflamed in a given area is hazardous! mike 81 started a thread on something never touched on before, despite so many reports. Personally, this puts a blight on the objectivity and transparency of the forum - just as till now, there is still no clear answer about the rigidity or firmness of erections after filler procedures. I have to wonder why.
I have not yet put off PMMA, but as chester puts it "recovery interfering with multiple sessions" is a very serious concern (soreness or not) added to the swelling itself that's causing this.
I hope we'll have many more inputs on this ...

Go down to the section "inflammation and cancer" ...
manitou, the point is not about PMMA induced cancer. It is about frequent swelling (inflammation fighting what?) that increases the chances of DNA damage that can trigger neoplasia. I think, without any known statistic, to lay all the cards on the table for a more informed assessment of the risks we will take. How long did it take to link cancer to cigarettes ...
@jogift, I was responding to you linking out to cancer articles. Glad to hear the concern isn't about cancer....but I'm hoping you can see where that wasn't quite obvious to me, as even in your last quote, you say it's not about cancer, and then say "how long did it take to link cancer to cigarettes..."
There is a plethora of research regarding the long-term affects of PMMA in the human body, in general (not in the penis - in the body). Bone cement, ocular implants...places that are sensitive to the body. Places that should be able to stimulate immune response.
There's a lot that we don't know about this process...or about dermal fillers in general. My personal experience, after 3 rounds, is no post-sex swelling/inflammation, and no detriment to firmness of erections.
And I'll echo Briceb regarding objectivity and transparency. Just because there are experiences that counter a dissenting perspective doesn't mean that's a violation in objectivity. Just throwing my personal, first-hand experience with PMMA in the ring, feel free to disregard if you want, but no need to imply that I or anyone else has some need to "convert" people to PMMA. In fact, I would suggest against it for most people.

I think swelling is fluid that is releases form the cells as they get irritated, It is just an initial bodily defense mechanism.
In this particular PMMA case, normally it should not be an issue.
I too had some pain but it certainly caused slightly more Girth and it wasn't soft, it just felt regular but bigger. The pain for me was mostly near the glans and at the base. This was only if I had sex daily or twice a day. I'd rest for a day to 2 days Max and it was back to normal.
You guys felt the same way?

If one of the guys with PMMA inflammation post sex could perhaps to a little test for me.... drink lots of water the day of sex and take a good fish oil pill (omega 3) 3 to 4 times a day with food.. preferably 8 pills a day... do this for a few days and see if the inflammation is sitll there.
I wonder if this is the culprit.

Assuming there no infections or any other thing going on, swelling after sex having had PMMA only 6 weeks is very normal and expected.

Swelling is natural even with no PMMA if you have heavy sex or sex multiple times a day. I noticed that if I have rough sex or sex every day, there is slight pain and discomfort. I think it is the PMMA and collagen that causes the minor irritations. I do not believe it is harmful in any way.
