Puell75 wrote: Hi SO, this is my first post and I guess I am a lurker. Been reading tons for last 6 months or so, and have decided to go see Dr C early July. I think you will get more pledges, in my case I had to click on your name and find content to see this thread. I will gladly pledge money as this site has been an invaluable resource. My biggest problem is I can't figure out how to PM anyone from my iPhone. It is a bit tedious to post as well. My point is that there is so much information and threads that it may take awhile for more people to find this thread. Also, want to say thanks to all on this board, especially those who do a great job documenting their progress, and the moderators. What a great bunch of guys. Best regards, Puell75

Thanks Puell75, I should pin this thread for better visibility. I should also note that this site does have a few mobile issues, and is much easier to navigate on an actual PC, but we're working out the mobile issues.

Any pledges (and eventual donations) would be greatly appreciated, I can see that it will be a necessity in the near future (if it isn't already).

Thanks for bringing that to my attention! That could definitely be a problem lol.

I'll have it fixed now.

Pledges & Donations

As some of you are aware, we used to have a PayPal Photo-Viewing & Donation system, but this no longer exists because PayPal deemed our site in violation of their Terms of Service. Likewise, most payment processors wont deal with us because our site is often times deemed adult-oriented.

That leaves us with the dark world of high-risk payment processors, all of which only a handful are credible. Of those handful, start-up fees in the thousands are required in order to even begin taking donations, thousands I don't have.

As of now the forum is okay financially, but only "okay." My personal job situation is unpredictable and I'm afraid by Spring my budget will only tighten. I'm hoping I have a payment processor sorted out by then, but if not, I've come up with an alternate (and temporary) plan of Pledges.

You can submit a Pledge of any amount to this site and when some sort of method of payment is found or agreed upon, funds can be sent. I have created a new user account by the name of "Pledge" that you can private message with your donation amount. Be sure to also use the word "Pledge" as your subject line. I'm not using my Private Message box since it's often times at capacity.

You don't have to be a registered member to pledge, if you are a lurker without an account, you can forward your pledge to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

With pledges, I can at least assess how much I'll eventually have for this site, and even assess the risk & reward of investing into a pricey high-risk payment processor for the long run.

Feel free to make suggestions or ask questions. I will not be taking questions that pertain to the specifics of the forum's finances.

Here's to a Pledging & Donating 2014!

I'm just trying to be helpful. SO, you said it iss sad and pathetic that you got no pledges, which means you expected them. I am just trying to provide some insight as to why that expectation may not have been in sync with the behavior of the members here. I for one would gladly pay for a membership or use some other payment method. I know it sucks that paypal et al won't accept affiliation with this site, but I'm just being honest when I say that I'd gladly pay a couple bucks to help out if it were a typical payment method. I might be able to put you in touch with some people who could help you directly process payments.

I figured out how to PM so I sent a pledge. Glad to hear you are working on mobile issues. I will create a thread for my PMMA journey soon.

Thanks, the hosting itself isn't so bad, it's forum services and the bandwidth that comes with it that accounts for the bulk of maintenance costs. That said, I'll certainly take you up on it - I'm currently reassessing everything with this site, from services to costs and will contact some of you for assistance when the time comes. Thanks
